Unfortunately, the MacBook Air M2’s storage read and write speeds are much slower than the MacBook Air M1’s when specified with 256GB of storage due to how Apple configured the drive. In our testing, the MacBook Air M2’s SSD was up to 50% slower than the MacBook Air M1’s SSD.

Definitely fast enough. I run an M1 MacBook Air with 16gb and 1tb SSD and Ableton, photoshop, premiere and more all run fast af. Look at Apple refurbished. Probably the same price and more peace of mind.
10GB video or another large single file. takes 6.85 seconds with the 256GB. takes 4.5 seconds with the 512GB. 50GB video or another large single file. takes 34.25 seconds with the 256GB. takes 22.52 seconds with the 512GB. For copying a lot of small files that add up to 10GB or more (or any amount for that matter), both are just as fast.
The SSD performance is more than good enough for most people. If you need performance, 16 GB RAM will make a much bigger difference. The only reason to go for the 512 GB SSD is if you actually need that kind of disk space. It's mostly irrelevant for daily performance. diffusivepanda.
