Lot of story lines going on at the same time and a lot of people getting killed like in game of thrones. Also littlefinger is in it he plays a similar power hungry character in season 3. It's very good and has a lot going on.
Episode 2 especially was the final breath of good episodes in the series, especially the fireplace scene. You could also just stop at Season 7. I'd say stop at season 5, sure you miss a lot of moments in the later seasons that are quite satisfying, and s5 does end on a cliffhanger but i'd say after season 5 the show started to die down. They can all be watched for free legally now - I get it the ending of game of thrones was pretty unfulfilling, but I think Renly being stabbed by a demon/ghost birthed from a sorceress was an even bigger let down. I was looking forward to a more climactic battle or conflict between stannis and Renly, but I feel like that was just a way for the producers to easily and quickly narrow down the There is a reactions fic where instead of just "react and then move on to the next books/movies" that I recommended. Lazy Beacon Days: Reading Boldores and Boombsticks and Describing The Series Via References [RWBY] The fics added some plots outside of the "react time", butterflies to the change made by the materials, etc. r/FanFiction. I just did this summer. I was the same, watched the Witcher and played that game first. I’m now 100x more obsessed with game of thrones then I ever was with the Witcher. It gave me everything the Witcher didn’t give me and is an incredible story. Only seasons I didn’t like were the first half of 5, and 8. It was all just angry fans making up rumors, because they wanted a reason for why the final season was so bad. “D&D rushed the final season of GoT, because they can’t wait to jump over to Star Wars. Oh, looks like we’ve been validated, because their trilogy didn’t fall through.”. ffPH.
